This well-loved establishment has become a local favorite for its endless options, quick service, and warm atmosphere. Whether you're dining with family, friends, or even on your own, this buffet-style restaurant delivers on both quality and quantity.

From the moment you step inside, you can feel the welcoming vibe that sets the tone for a satisfying meal. The large dining space is always bustling, with families enjoying their favorite Chinese dishes and groups gathering for celebrations. One thing that stands out about China Buffet is the sheer variety of items on the menu. Whether you're a fan of crispy fried rice, succulent orange chicken, or sweet-and-sour shrimp, there's something for everyone.

For those who enjoy classic Chinese-American dishes, you’ll find all the favorites here, including General Tso’s chicken, Mongolian beef, and egg rolls. These dishes are prepared fresh and often refilled throughout the meal, ensuring you're always getting a hot plate. However, there are also some unique options that set this restaurant apart. The sushi bar, for instance, is an unexpected gem at a buffet and is carefully stocked with a range of fresh rolls. This is a great touch for anyone looking for a lighter option or something different from the usual hot buffet offerings.

China Buffet doesn’t just stop at Chinese food either. The restaurant has expanded its options to include some Western favorites such as pizza, fried chicken, and even a salad bar for those who prefer to go lighter on the carbs. There’s a well-rounded dessert section as well, which offers traditional Chinese sweets like almond cookies and sesame balls, alongside Western desserts like brownies and fruit.

What truly elevates the dining experience at China Buffet is its commitment to quality. The chefs take pride in cooking each dish to perfection, and it shows. One of the most popular dishes, the beef and broccoli, is a great example of this. The beef is tender and flavorful, with just the right amount of savory sauce to complement the fresh, crisp broccoli. Another standout is the sweet and sour pork, where the crispy coating on the pork chunks holds up perfectly against the tangy sauce. It’s a flavor-packed dish that leaves you coming back for more.

The service at China Buffet is also worth noting. Despite the large number of people dining, the staff is attentive and quick to clear away plates and refill dishes. This ensures that your plate never goes empty, making it easy to sample everything on the extensive buffet. The restaurant is always well-maintained, and you can tell the staff takes pride in creating a clean, inviting environment for guests.

One of the best aspects of China Buffet is the affordability. With the all-you-can-eat option, you’re getting a lot of food for a great price. Whether you’re an occasional diner or a regular, you’ll find that the buffet offers tremendous value for your money. Plus, they often have specials and discounts, especially for families or larger groups.

The location on Brooks St is convenient for those living in or visiting Missoula, making it a popular choice for locals. There’s plenty of parking, and the large seating area means you're unlikely to wait long for a table, even during peak hours. It’s a great spot for a casual night out, family gathering, or a celebration with friends. Whether you’re craving something comforting and familiar or in the mood for trying a new dish, China Buffet provides a satisfying and diverse experience that keeps people coming back.

In terms of reviews, most diners rave about the consistent quality and variety of dishes. People particularly appreciate the sushi bar and the fast, friendly service. It’s not uncommon to hear praise for the restaurant’s ability to keep the buffet fresh and stocked, something that can be hard to find in many other buffet-style restaurants. Many guests leave with full stomachs, having enjoyed a variety of dishes, from spicy chicken to creamy coconut shrimp, all in one meal.

  • A Chinese buffet restaurant with great value for money. Over a hundred dishes including meat, vegetables, and fish are available for self-service, along with soup, desserts, fruits, and ice cream only for $13.49. And, no tax!!! It’s a must go if it is on your trip.

  • Be realistic when visiting a low cost buffet/takeout. The food quality is average, its on par with cheap takeout but the service was good / selection and was one of the cleanest buffets I've been to. While weird to have only disposable plates, uniquely solved a lot of issues like water usage, food consumption/waste, wage dish washer and liabilities. (I peaked in the kitchen, lied said i thought this was the way to the bathroom) Saw surprisingly organized clean kitchen with a small dish washing area, yeah buffet plates ain't a task I'd want to do in there. Better value than fast food Chinese. I personally liked everything I had and will go back.

  • Definitely love coming to this place for family dinners since it’s a buffet, and there’s always something for everyone. Service is generally good just not a lot of smiling, etc., which is to be expected, but they do a great job with cleanliness and the food is always fresh and hot!

  • Five star Chinese food. One of the best restaurants in Missoula. Good service Tables and floor Looked clean. Good buffet practice of not reusing a plate, sanitary. Food was warm, nice variety could have been more/but you can always say that. I would eat here again. I will if I get over a Million photo views Like my Teppanyaki photo did.

  • Best when stoned, it's China buffet after all. $15 for unlimited food, I couldn't recommend more for a broke college student who misses actual food. It's exactly what you'd expect. Not sure how long some of the food is left out, but it tastes great anyway! The Chicken wings are shockingly good and crispy, I just wouldn't touch the shellfish lol.

  • I'm giving them five stars to boost their rating a bit, because I think people are being a little unfair in some of their reviews. I would rate them a solid 4 stars all around. The good: -The takeout box is THE WAY TO GO! -Plenty of variety and various foods to choose from, despite being a small buffet. -Sushi is amazing, especially if you catch it right when it was made. The elderly woman who typically makes it is clearly a pro. Especially love the deep fried sushi and the one with sauce drizzled on top, oh, and the ones with fish roe. -The BUNS! I highly recommend the steamed pork buns, they're delicious. -Spring rolls are great. -Chicken on a stick is a must have. -Once you try everything they offer, you know exactly what you want and it's easy to find and fill up your plate/takeout box. -Food is filling and reheats well the next day for leftover lunch, especially if you use the toaster. -The food is highly consistent, it is always made exactly the same which is great for anyone who hates inconsistencies in food (autistic people, etc). -The owners and staff are all really friendly! The old guy who is usually at the register or floating around the food is super nice. The bad: -The flavors are clearly made with Montana's residents in mind, meaning none of it is spicy at all, and there are not as many authentic Chinese flavors as I would personally like to see. The food is very much what a typical Midwestern white American would think Chinese food is supposed to be. -The food is too greasy. Like, way too greasy. I like the taste of the noodles for example, but they are quite greasy and leave a pool of grease at the bottom of the takeout container. -Many of the sauces used are too sweet. Again, I believe they are catering to locals. All in all, I think with the lack of options in town, the China Buffet is a pretty good place to scratch that itch when you just want to eat a whole mess of Asian-y cuisine.
